A Game of Thrones

First things first, the edition I have of this book is the blue cover with the sword but I couldn't find it on Goodreads. So this cover will have to do. Also, yes I have watched the show. I only got about halfway through season four before I got bored with it. Apparently I have a habit of not liking things the rest of the world is obsessed over. I check it out to see what the hype is all about and just don't get it most days. There have been some things I have read and watched and loved, but most of the time it's the opposite. Even though I could name a few examples, we are here to talk about the book. From what I heard the TV series only follows the first book almost exactly. But I haven't read the books yet. A mistake on my part when I've already seen half of the show. Now it's going to ruin what I come up with in the book. Also with how heavy this book is, I plan on both reading it on my own when I can and listening to the audiobook. Believe it or not this is actually the book I tried to read before my reading hiatus during the pandemic. I'm not saying that this book put me on a reading hiatus. But I was in a bad mind set when trying to read this book and it wasn't fair for the author to try to read during that. But now I have the book again and I'm excited to see what the hype is all about. Luckily I don't hear much about the books than I do the TV show.

Listening to this book is long. This book is massive and I think just as big as Uprooted. Also it doesn't help that every time I try to read this book, that is when someone needs something from me. Anyways, the first season of the show does follow this book almost exactly. Sadly with how big this book is, I'm starting to get a little bored with it. Maybe I like short books that have a lot of action lately. But this is a book I told myself I would read and I will. I did pull another book from my pile to read at night to have a break from this book. I think I'm at the point that everything is mashing together when I try to recall what the book is about. Sorry I can't tell you much about the book. It is taking everything in me to actually stay awake to listen to the audiobook. I guess it is safe to say that just like the show, I'm not a fan of the book Game of Thrones.

Nothing seems more satisfying than finishing a book that is as thick and as heavy as the edition I got of this book. I have like two chapters left but they're short. I'm pretty much am done with this book. Also I did request the second book of this series. Not sure when I will get it, it depends on when the wheel lands on it. That is how I select my books. I put them in a randomizer wheel and spin it. Anyway this book was long and full of information. I have no idea what to tell you. Pretty sure I tuned most of it out. It's kind of like trying to explain the television series. The book's chapters are split into different points of views of different characters. You have Jon Snow with he beginnings in the Night's Watch. You have Sansa with her desire to be married to Geoffry. You have Eddard with his life as the Hand of the King. Catelyn with her life of children going to war and her husband going to King's Landing. There are others but those are just some examples. I'm not sure if I have a favorite character at this point. I'm still not a fan of the whole series, but I'm trying it out. The television series does follow this book pretty closely and I give it a thumbs up for that. But I heard that after this it goes way off. Now I'm just curious as to how off it goes. Either way this book is big and has a lot going on. If you don't mind the loads of information it dumbs on you, then go ahead and read this book. There are some action scenes but not many. I'm just curious if the second book is going to be more interesting. I guess the only way to find out by reading it. But that will have to wait. Sadly this book got two stars from me.
