House Across the Lake

 12/11/23

I love Riley Sager's books but there is a small problem with this one. It isn't quite grabbing me in like the other books. So far I have a mysterious family who lives in the house across the lake. And, a main character who is an alcoholic ever since the love of her life died. That is pretty much it. That is all that is pretty much going right now and I'm already a third of the way through the book. Yes, there is a lot of background that needs to be explained but it doesn't hurt to have a little bit of action going on. So far I'm a little disappointed. I'm hoping to finish the book because I don't want to DNF the book. Probably because it is a Riley Sager book and I want to like it for that reason alone. But I guess it is to be expected that there will be a few duds even with your favorite authors. Fingers crossed that something interesting starts to happen in the book. Or, my motivation to finish it will disappear.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. I used my time off to try to listen to my audiobook of House Across the Lake, but sadly I could not. To be honest, I'm a little disappointed with this book. Being a new fan of Riley Sager, this one was kind of bland. Maybe I will pick it up once again in the future but for now I just don't have the motivation to listen or read the book. I can't tell you what happened since the last time I updated you with the book because I don't really remember. My mind refused to absorb the information due to the face of me trying to force myself to finish the book. Hopefully I can finish the book in the future. Maybe I'm just not in the right head space to read it at the moment. Maybe the holidays distracted me too much to focus on the book. Whatever it may be, I can't really rate this book fairly until I finish the book. But for now it is two stars for me.
