Started reading Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune

Hello Bookies,

I'm on to my next book and I'm kind of excited to read this one. This is the second book to House in the Cerulean Sea. I had no idea that the book was even going to get a second one, but I'm glad that it did. I'm not sure what this book is about or whether is continues our story from the first book. I just saw it existed and I wanted to read it. So far I've like TJ Klune's books and find them pretty adorable. Also I'm glad that my co-worker gave me the book once she was done getting the book ready to be put on the shelf at work. I'm literally the first one to read this copy of the book and I plan to treat it with care. Well, I'm off to read the adventures that this book holds. My goal is to read it in three days, so let's see if I can do it. Wish me luck.

So until next time....

Finished reading Deal with the Elf King

Hello there Bookies,

I'm writing this post before I head off to work, so forgive me if I sound rushed. The book was cute with an enemies to lovers plotline. The only problem with this is that I hate having to endure the two leads denying their feelings for half of the book. Luella doesn't want to admit she is in love because she is scared that it is only because of her duty as the Human Queen. The Elf King denies his feelings because Luella is planning on leaving and he is just guarding himself from heart break. So much happens in this book but I don't have the time to tell you all of them due to the fact I have to go to work soon. You'll just have to read the book to find out what happens. I will say that Luella does accomplish breaking the cycle and returns home. She isn't happy and it takes a good long talk with her mother for figure out what she really wants. Then Luella runs back to Midscape to live happily ever after with her king. The book gets three out of five stars out of me. Also this book is good for those that don't want books with strong intimate scenes. They mention it but you don't actually go through the actions. I liked the book but I didn't love it. I found it cute and it had some good character growth. But I can't help but feel like there should have been more to the story. Maybe instead of the bonus chapter being online, maybe put it as an epilogue in the book. Maybe that is why it feels like something is missing. With how the book ends, you are still left with questions. You don't get that closure. Also there is no guarantee that the website holding the bonus chapter would still be up by the time you read the book. These are just my thoughts but feel free to read the book on your own.

So until next time....

Half way through Deal with the Elf King

Hello Bookies,

I'm finally about halfway through this book. It is taking me a bit longer because no one cares when they see a book in my hand. Anyways we have our leading lady, Luella, who lived a peaceful life in a small city called Capton. She was their healer and took her job seriously. Only problem is that her childhood friend wants to ruin that peaceful life by stealing her away before the elves come. She keeps telling him that she doesn't want to leave because she has duties. But it doesn't stop him from telling her family that they are going to get married, much to Luella's surprise. She scolds her friend and then gets to work for the day. Then she goes to Town Hall to figure out what the council has to say about the fact that they couldn't find the Human Queen that the elves are looking for. But before they announce their plans, the elves arrive. Then someone collapses and Luella being a healer, runs to help them. The Elf King watches her perform what she needs to do and it turns out that Luella is the Human Queen everyone was looking for. The only reason that no one knew is because her childhood friend gave her a necklace to wear and she never took it off. The necklace hid her powers away and once removed they surged, turning the city center into almost a forest. Then she gets whisked away to the temple and is forced to marry the Elf King and then taken across the Fade to live among the elves. She is a little resistant to the whole thing because she is just trying to make sense of some things. Also she feels like she was stolen from her life's purpose. So the first half of the book is her either fighting or trying to adjust to her new life. Once you get about halfway, the romance starts showing. But the king is fighting his feelings because him and Luella made a deal that she will try to break the cycle of Human Queens and she only has three months to do it. It is like the king keeps reminding himself that she isn't going to stay, so there is no point in acting on his feelings. There are other details I skipped but feel free to read the book to learn about those details. I'm enjoying the book so far though.

So until next time...

Started reading Deal with the Elf King by Elise Kova

Hello there Bookies,

I had to return The God and the Gumiho, so now I have to wait for it to come back. Until then I have this fantasy to read. This one has been sitting on my holds list for a while and I'm finally reading it. I'm not sure what it is about because I go into these books blind. But at one point I must have saw it somewhere and thought I would give it a try. But since it has been on my holds list for so long at the library that I forgot where I heard about this book. Which just makes things more interesting.

So until next time....

Finished reading Too Late

Hello there Bookies,

I have finished this book late last night. Also being busy and sleeping all day today, I couldn't post sooner. Sadly to book isn't interesting until you get close to the end when Carter's cover is blown. Then Asa goes crazy because Sloane says that she doesn't love him and that she loves Carter, who now know is actually named Luke. Then we go through a lot with Asa thinking he is above the law with his obsession over Sloane. Sadly the only way they can be free from him is if Asa was no longer around anymore. Whether it is prison or death. But you pretty much hate the guy at the end because he is crazy obsessed and it seems like he doesn't care that he is supposed to be away from Sloane or Luke. But once it is all over, you have no idea how to feel. Because you learn why Asa is the way he is but it also doesn't excuse his actions. But this book probably will get three stars out of five from me.

So until next time...

Started reading Too Late by Colleen Hoover

Hello Bookies,

The only reason I started reading this book is because I forgot my book at home and I needed something to read. Since I have the goal to read every Colleen Hoover book I can get my hands on, I picked up this book. The book takes place in a college and our main character Sloane is in a situation. She has no where to go and she is trying to save her money to get her own place so she can bring her brother a stable home. Only problem is that since she is trying to save money, she has to live with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend is known to be a party guy and always has people going in and out of his house. The reason for this is that her boyfriend is doing some extra curricular activities that doesn't involve school. Which introduces us to another character, Carter. Carter is an undercover cop trying to bust Sloane's boyfriend, Asa but they need proof or some more information before doing so. I can already see the underlining story. The deeper meaning already. We have Sloane who feels like she has no other choice than live with her drug dealing boyfriend because she has nothing to her name. I must also add that her boyfriend isn't afraid to constantly remind her that if it wasn't for him she would be living with her drug addict of a mother. If Sloane even thinks about betraying him, he won't hesitate to kick her out and send her back to the one place she doesn't want to be. The story is basically Sloane no longer being a doormat for Asa and his dealings. She needs to decide that she deserves better and not have his threats affect her life.

So until next time....

Started reading The God and the Gumiho by Sophie Kim

Hello there Bookies,

We are on to our next book. I'm only breezing through books because I've been quarantined. I had somehow gotten covid and being sick in bed has it's advantages. I'm all clear now but I'm on a roll because I don't go back to work until Friday and I've done almost all of my tasks for work. Anyways this book I'll understand a little bit more than the last Korean author I read. I know what a Gumiho is and the legends behind that. Also I read and understood my first bit of Hangul in the book making me so proud of myself. As usual, I am going into this book blind. Just judging by the book it is going to focus loosely around the legend of the Gumiho. I find the cover cute and I've only read one chapter so far. Not enough to really give first thoughts but I look forward to what adventures this book holds.

So until next time....

Finished reading Haunting Adeline

Hello Bookies,

I actually finished this book late last night and it kept me up. How it ends leaves questions for me. Now I'm going to have to wait a while to get those answers. Anyways I enjoyed this book and I must be so desensitized that I didn't find this book to be as dark as people made me believe. Sure we have Zade fighting the sex trafficking scene, but I knew that stuff all existed to begin with and that it is horrible. Also I am aware of the Satanic Rituals that take place in this world as well. Maybe my criminology background helps with me being able to read the seriousness of this book and not be traumatized by it. Anyways I liked the storyline of the story. Addie trying to figure out who killed her great-grandmother was pretty interesting. I like the idea that the main characters had their own story and didn't really depend on each other to keep the story going. You could remove one's story and not ruin the book. Now let me address the flaws in this book. Even though the book was well written there are a few choices in this book I have to question. Mainly the fact that Addie gets turned on by fear. We aren't shaming. Just questioning the choices here. I'm sure there are people in reality that does have this and I find it a little weird but we don't judge. Also we have to question Zade's choice of stalking Addie and some of the choices he makes. Only because it makes him no better than what he fights against every day. But I see the kink that this book targets and we aren't judging. I've already read a book with that kink in it and I understand it fully. It just isn't for me. Now that we got past most of that, I just need to question those that are stanning Zade. Do they have this specific kink or are they just romanticizing everything in this book? I know there are some of you that are romanticizing this by saying that he is so in love with her that he is just consumed by his need for her. Make better choices people. Zade could still be consumed by Addie but in a healthy way that doesn't involve stalking the girl and taking advantage of her. He can even do this without lying to her but choices were made by the writer and they were targeting a certain group of people in the BDSM circle. All I have to say is that don't romanticize something you don't understand. I'm done with my rant. Sorry that I included it in my review but it had to be said. In other words, I did enjoy the book. The writing was well done. I do recommend this book to those that want to read it but please take the trigger warnings seriously.

So until next time....

Started reading Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton

Hello Bookies,

I've been waiting to read this book for a while now. Also I happen to have gotten it just before I got stuck in quarantine. Now that I have all the time in the world to read, I can't wait to crack open this book and read it. Everyone at work that has read this book says that it is dark. Also TikTok is obsessed with this book. I know some of us fantasize about some interesting things but we aren't here to judge. I'm just curious on what my co-workers were talking about when it came to this book. They wouldn't tell me much, which I like. Wish me luck with this book.

So until next time...

Finished reading Final Offer

Hey there Bookies,

I'm home sick and the best thing about it is that I have all the time in the world to read. I spent the whole day while I was awake reading and finishing Cal's story. It is a story of a second-chance romance that makes you think that once things starting going right, you don't think things are going to go wrong. Then you remember you are reading about Cal Kane who has an addiction and in order to have his happy ending, he has to overcome that addiction. Then he has to live his whole life proving to Lana that he really loves her and isn't just using her to get his inheritance. I'm not going to explain that whole rabbit hole because I want you to read the book. I like how every brother in this series has their own missions, personalities, and ways to finding love. Rowan was the classic romance novel. Declan was the fake marriage. Now Cal with his second chance at his childhood sweetheart. The only thing that feels like a disappointment is that their father chose an easier path for himself instead of making amends with his sons. I can understand the brothers at the end when it is all over and all they feel is disappointment. Like things should have played out differently in the end. Either way I loved all of the books. I'm not sure which one I liked the most. Rowan's was probably my least favorite because of the classic romance for his story. Other than that, I can't really pick them apart too bad.

So until next time....
