I'm reading two books at once

 Hello there Bookies,

It's been a while and I'm sorry about that. I was in a bit of a reading slump and I usually read graphic novels, mangas, or old childhood books to get out of it. Now I am out of it and I'm in a rush to finish my new reading goal to read at least ninety books by the end of the year. Also I got my hands on a popular book and I just had to read it.

The first book I'm reading is House Across the Lake by Riley Sager. I love Riley Sager's books but there is a small problem with this one. It isn't quite grabbing me in like the other books. So far I have a mysterious family who lives in the house across the lake. And, a main character who is an alcoholic ever since the love of her life died. That is pretty much it. That is all that is pretty much going right now and I'm already a third of the way through the book. Yes, there is a lot of background that needs to be explained but it doesn't hurt to have a little bit of action going on. So far I'm a little disappointed. I'm hoping to finish the book because I don't want to DNF the book. Probably because it is a Riley Sager book and I want to like it for that reason alone. But I guess it is to be expected that there will be a few duds even with your favorite authors. Fingers crossed that something interesting starts to happen in the book. Or, my motivation to finish it will disappear.

The other book I'm reading is Neon Gods by Katee Robert. I like books that have kinks in them for personal reasons. I think it makes the book interesting and it gives people a point of view in a world that they don't quite understand. But I don't like it to be the main focus of the book. I think we know what book I'm thinking about when saying that. So far the book is pretty interesting. It is like a modern day Greek Mythology. We have Zeus who is the wants to look like he is king of the whole city and scares people into bending to his will. Which we have Demeter who sold her daughter to Zeus in order to gain more power. Persephone didn't like this and runs away from the city she knows and enters the lower city, which is the representation of the underworld, and runs into the man she didn't think existed, Hades. There is a whole story about why Hades isn't even considered real and you'll have to read the book to figure that out. Anyway Hades take Persephone into his care because she really beat herself up running away from home. But growing up around people who use each other in order to gain power, Persephone isn't too trusting of Hades at first, but it doesn't stop her from striking up a deal with him. This is where the spiciness of the book comes in. And it is spicy and kinky. But that is all that is going on right now. Hades and Persephone working together to anger Zeus all the while trying to not fall for each other. The typical romance stuff. I have a feeling that our leading lady isn't going to grow that much, which is something I hate. I am hoping this book proves me wrong.

So until next time....
