Started reading Feed by Mira Grant

Hey there Bookies,

I'm on my eleventh book of the challenge. After this one, I'll have thirteen more books to read. This book I believe falls under the "Character who lives off the grid" prompt. All I know so far is that it has zombies in it. It's been a while since I read a book with zombies in it. I think the last one I read was Red Hill? by Jamie McGuire. It's been so long, I'm not even sure of the title. Anyways all I know is that this book has zombies in it so far. I'm only a few chapters in and that is all I know. An outbreak took place and people turned into zombies. The typical start to any zombie book. Right now I'm just learning the characters. We have George who is a girl that is telling the story mostly. We have her brother who's name I can't remember. Then there is their tech friend Buffy and their friend Sean. That is all I got. I'll need to read more in order to learn more about this book. Wish me luck on this book. I don't really read books like this but it is for the challenge.

So until next time....

Finished reading In The Lives of Puppets

Hello Bookies,

Again, another book that took me longer to read than it should have. This book was cute but it wasn't as good as the other book I've read by this author. The book is pretty much about a young man who was raised by an android in a world ran by robots and machines. But one day the android that the young man saw as a father is taken away. So the young man goes on a journey with his three robot friends to rescue his father from the Authority. Then once he found his father, not as the same as before, but he takes him home in hopes to return him to the way he once was. There is more to the story but that is the rundown of the book. If you want to know more of the book in detail, you are just going to have to read it. My favorite characters are Rambo and Nurse Ratchet. They are the comic relief in such a serious topic of a book. Especially Rambo. Sadly the book only gets three out of five stars. Like I said, I didn't like this book as much as the other one. I'm not disappointed and I did like the book. I would also recommend it if someone is wanting a cute sci-fi book that is a not obviously science themed. But I'm off to the next book of the challenge.

So until next time....

Started reading In The Lives of Puppets

 Hello Bookies,

I've been dying to read more from TJ Klune and I finally got my hands on this book. I don't know much about it. I just saw that it was by TJ Klune and had to get it. I'm only in chapter one and have been introduced to some robots and a young man named Victor. That is all I know so far. But I look forward to the adventure this book holds. It is for the reading challenge and it falls into three different prompts, so I have to figure out which one to put it under. All I have to say is that I am already enjoying the book so far. The robots really make me want to smile and giggle.

So until next time....

Finished reading The Silent Patient

Hello there Bookies,

I didn't expect to finish this book so quick. It was actually so good to the point that I didn't want to put it down. The main mystery is to try to figure out why this one patient won't talk after the death of her husband. We follow the therapist who is working on her case and we get glimpses into his personal life. Now this whole time we are thinking that everything is in the present tense. But once the big twist comes, you find out that it wasn't the case. Then I really didn't want to put the book down. But I feel like now that I know what happened in the book, I won't be able to enjoy the twist as much. With that thought in mind, the book gets a four out of five stars. But if I would have my memory of this booked wiped just so I could read it again, I would. I liked it that much. I'm glad this book was recommended to me and I will recommend it to those that are looking for a book that is full of mystery until the very end. Nothing in this book left hints towards the twist and the truth. I kind of liked that because the twist just takes you more by surprise when it comes.

So until next time..

Starting to read The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

 Hey Bookies,

I'm on to my next reading prompt. This one is a book recommended by a librarian. This is a book I've been dying to read and glad that I now have an excuse to read it. I started this late at night, so I am pretty far already. The story revolves around a woman that is accused of killing her husband. But no one knows if it is true or not because the woman doesn't speak. So we follow a psychotherapist who is put in charge of this woman. Their job is to try to figure out why she stopped talking and get her to speak again. It has been a rough start. The first meeting was unsuccessful because the patient was too drugged out to even comprehend anything. The second meeting resulted in her beating the crap out of him and nearly killing him. Third meeting had a bit of progress. Of course, we also get a bit of background of the psychotherapist and their personal life. It seems that the more he works on this patient, the more his life starts to crumble. Or, at least that is what I have seen so far. I'm not sure how far I am actually in the book because I only have the audiobook in MP3 player form. This book is pretty popular and in order for me to read it, I have to find ways to get my hands on it. I'm already hooked on this book and can't wait to see what else is going to happen.

So until next time....

Almost done reading The Vegetarian

Hello there Bookies,

Well this book is a rollercoaster. There are only three long chapters in this book. Each chapter is through the point of view of a different person. The first chapter is the husband of the woman who became a vegetarian. The second chapter is the brother-in-law of the woman. Then chapter three is the sister of the woman. The first chapter had the husband trying to understand what is going on with his wife. Trying to figure out why she suddenly became a vegetarian due to a dream. You could even tell that he was getting a little annoyed about it. In the second chapter you find out that the husband eventually left his wife because he just couldn't handle his wife's behavior. The second chapter was really a rollercoaster. Seeing the vegetarian in the point of view as her brother-in-law was weird. I'm only saying it was weird because I'm pretty sure there was a part where he got turned on by the thought of her blood being on him. He then becomes obsessed with his sister-in-law for some odd reason. He comes up with excuses to see her naked and it isn't because of lust. Or, at least that is what he tells himself. But his obsession gets to bad that he basically gets himself painted in flowers and assaults her. Chapter three is where we are now with the vegetarian's sister. She explains that her sister is now in a mental institute and her now ex-husband is now in hiding. But the sister is now starting to get dreams about her sister, the vegetarian. I guess these dreams have something to do with her sister thinking she is a tree or something like that. It is hard to focus when no one lets me actually listen to the book. I'm still working through the last chapter. Right now we are going through the experience of the sister visiting the vegetarian in the ward where they are staying. It is all just a rollercoaster. If I had to rate this book, it would be two stars out of five. I liked it and I found it interesting, but it is hard to follow in some parts. The different points of views don't help but I can understand why the author did it. It is interesting to see different points of view when someone starts to slowly fall into insanity.

So until next time....

Reading The Vegetarian

Hey Bookies,

I have to be honest here. I'm struggling with this book. It is interesting But with the constant interruptions, it is a little hard to follow. This is one of the books you have to listen to with full focus in order to understand what is going on. I'm not sure if I am going to actually finish this book. I did put this in the book under the prompt "Set in a country you never visited" since it takes place in South Korea. This book also lands in a few other prompts but I picked the first one I saw. I'll at least try to get at least halfway through this book. It isn't that long but like I said, it is hard to understand. All we have is that a young woman suddenly decided to become a vegetarian after she started to experience a series of violent nightmares. The book focuses around her family members trying to understand what is going on with this young woman and also trying to get her to eat meat because she was simply wasting away. Like I said, the book is interesting but with interruptions it is hard for me to follow.

So until next time...

Started reading The Vegetarian by

Hello there Bookies,

I don't remember which prompt this book falls under. I guess I'll just have to read it to figure it out. This is one of the shorter books I am planning to read. I should be able to get if done in about a day in a half. From the first chapter so far, we have our main character who has lived a pretty mundane life. Everything follows a routine and his wife is pretty passive. Then when it was five years of marriage, his wife started to act a little bit different. I'm not sure what is going on but I'm already interested.

Almost done reading Moorewood Family Rules

Hey Bookies,

Well, I didn't finish this book as soon as I wanted. Again the results of a family that doesn't respect that I have a book in my hands or headphones in my ear. But a lot has happened in this book. We have our main character who we will call Jule because I am not sure how to spell her actual name. I returned the book already and finishing with the audiobook. Anyway Jule is from a family of con-artists. For generations they have been stealing and conning people. But Jule had shown up unexpected after a few months being away. She is introduced to her Uncle Jay's girlfriend Izzy and there are suspicions about her as you get further into the book. My thought is that she is an undercover FBI agent trying to catch Jay doing his con work so they can throw him into prison. Not confirmed, just my thought. Then we have Jule's cousin Anika who is dating a rich guy named Harry and is trying to marry him. To her, he is her ticket out of the family but Jule isn't allowing her to con her way into marriage. Then we have Jule's other cousin Astrid who is quite the evil little character. Also she is the apple that didn't fall far from Uncle Jay's tree. But Astrid is capable of doing anything to keep her lifestyle and I mean anything. There are other characters in the story but these are the main focus ones. Jule has spent a lot of time in prison for trying to clean up her father's mess. Her family was hoping she wouldn't return, but she did. Jule controls everything and wants her family to give of their con-artist ways. But they refuse because it is all they know. Now Jule's life is in danger and she has to agree to have a bodyguard named Beck. Good thing Beck is around because not only is he trying to keep her alive but also trying to keep her from being returned to prison. There is so much going on in the book that I can't tell you all of it or it would ruin the book. I gave you a small rundown in hopes you will pick up the book. I really like it and it gets three out of five stars. I should explain why my rankings are so low in one of these posts. But I do recommend the book. There is a bit of romance but it is more of a subplot in the book.

So until next time....

Started reading Moorewood Family Rules by HelenKay Dimon

 Hi Bookies,

It is time for book number seven out of twenty-four. This book challenge prompt was "read a book with a con-artist." This book was on my TBR list and it fit the prompt when I looked it up, so I'm reading it. It's about two hours shorter than the last book I just finished, so hopefully I can finish it a little faster. I don't know how the con-artist part is going to fit into this book, but I do look forward to it. As usual, I don't know what the story was about. We have to have a good first impression on the book that isn't influenced by other's opinions. I look forward to the adventure this book holds.

So until next time...

Almost done reading Fangirl

Hello there Bookies,

I'm not very optimistic when it comes to this reading challenge. I have a stack of books but this book took me at least four days to almost finish. I have a little over an hour left of it. A lot happens and I don't know what to say that won't ruin the book. Cath, our main character, is struggling as a writing. I feel that one, but she still loves her fanfiction. She is more active in that than working on her fiction writing class. Cath also gets to see her long lost mother and gave her a chance to talk things out. But just as Cath expected, she walked out instead. This meeting only happened because Cath's twin sister ended up in the hospital due to drinking too much. Which didn't go well with their father. He was tempted to take them out of college just to make sure Cath's sister didn't drink again. But he ended up putting his trust in them and let them finish up the semester. Now I am at the part where Cath is trying to build up her relationship with her boyfriend. That was a rollercoaster of wanting to slap the characters just to get them together. But now that they are together, I just want to slap Cath. She is too scared to do anything and even lose control. I just want to slap her and yell "Just go with the flow!" I hope things gets better with this girl. But the book gets three out of five stars from me. I liked it, but some parts kind of dragged on too much. Also the little inserts of a different story at the end of every chapter confused me at first but made more sense as I continued in the book. I understand why they were put in the book because Cath's life is wrapped around the characters of these inserts, but a little warning would have been nice. Instead they just throw it in there. Honestly, I don't think they are really that necessary and the book didn't really need them at all. But I totally get why the author put them in. This is still different from what I usually read, but I'm glad I read it.

So until next time....

Started reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Hello Bookies,

I'm off to the next book in the reading challenge. This is one of the bigger books I have to get through but I am confident. So far I got six out of twenty-five books done. Only 19 more to go. I am reading another one, well sort of. It's in my bag and I usually read it if I have nothing to do at work. Usually happens during the end of the day. Anyways, this is a book I've tried reading once or at least meant to. It was during my slump, so I didn't touch it. Now I get a chance to read it. If you are wondering which prompt this book falls under for the bingo card, it is the one that wants us to read a book that takes place in a school or university. As usual I don't know anything about the book because we want a legit reaction to the book. I just started so I'm curious on what adventures this book holds.

So until next time....

Almost done reading We Have Always Lived in the Castle

Hey there Bookies,

There are benefits to waking up at four in the morning and waiting for someone else to wake up so you aren't so alone. I almost finished the book. I have about one or two chapters left. I think I know who killed the family but I'm not sure. The book doesn't outright tell you. Obviously I won't tell you who I think it is because that would ruin the whole book. Anyways, the sisters' lives get turned upside down when a family member that they lost touch with comes to visit. Mary doesn't like him because he is messing up everything that once was. She does try a few things to get rid of him because she doesn't like him at all. I don't blame her either. He does feel like he has different motives then just catching up with his cousins. He is really focused around money and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason for his visit. Especially when the house catches fire and his main concern is to save the safe and the contents inside it. The towns people are also very cruel because as the house burns, they decide to trash the house along with the fire. It was like they used the fire as an excuse to show what they really thought of the two sisters and their home. I'm curious on how this is all going to end now that the sisters don't have a home anymore.

So until next time...

Reading We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

Hello Bookies,

I'm reading a classic for my reading challenge. I don't know much about this book when I first got it. The cover just interest me. From what I have learned so far in the book is that we are following a young woman named Mary. She lives in an estate with her sister and uncle. Everyone in their village are scared of them or dislikes them for some reason. I think it has to do with the fact that the sister was accused of murdering her parents and other family members. Even though she was acquitted for the crime, people still talk about it behind their backs. Uncle Julian was also poisoned but he survived. Sadly the poison still took a toll on him and he is a lot weaker. He can't even really take care of himself. I guess the story is going to focus around this family and trying to figure out who poisoned the family using sugar. This is not something I would usually read, but at least I can say I finally read a classic book.

So until next time....

Finished reading Vintage

 Hey Bookies,

I finished reading Vintage by Susan Gloss. The book is okay but it just isn't for me. But for those that like a good laid back book that has mental conflict, this is the book for you. I am glad that everything pretty much worked out for all of the three main characters by the end of the book. The shopkeeper gets to keep their shop. The Indian woman gets to pursue her dreams. And the young 18 year old gets to start a family. I'm not going to get into too much detail about the book. Only because not a whole lot happens in my opinion. This book just has realistic struggles with realistic solutions. I'm more into fantasy and true crime, but this was a nice change of pace for a book. Sadly it does get two out of five stars from me. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't for me. But I would still recommend it to someone if they were looking for a book similar to this.

So until next time...

Listening to Vintage by Susan Gloss

Hey Bookies,

I'm starting my Book Bingo Challenge. I'm two books in and that is because the two books were graphic novels that just so happen to fit some prompts on the bingo card. This book fits the prompt for Local Author. Still so weird to know about the places the book talks about since I went to school in the area. I'm not sure of the plot of the book or the storyline. It kind of hops around between three main characters. We have a vintage store owner who is going through the struggle of trying to keep her shop while her landlord wants to sell the building because prices are going up. I guess they just want to win the advantage of the rising real estate and make big money so they can open a new building in a lesser area. Another character we follow is a woman who grew up in India but moved to America when she got married. Now she is just selling things that have meaning because she found out her husband had an affair for ten years with an old lover. The last character is an eighteen year old girl, who I assume got dumped by her boyfriend after he found out she was pregnant. The eighteen year old is going through the struggles of trying to survive after her mother died and trying to stay afloat long enough to enter college. I feel like this book is just people trying to survive their struggles and the story is them going through the struggles. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone get over the struggles by the end of the book. If you ask me, this book isn't interesting to me. But I'm doing it for the grand prize in the reading competition. I'm hoping that I can finish this book. I'm to the point that I'm spacing out and don't even know what is going on in the book.

So until next time...

Let's Get Personal #13

 Hey there Bookies,

I am sorry I haven't made any posts lately. I've been trying to read but I've been in a bit of a slump. I blame the fact that I have a new nephew to spoil. He's been taking up a lot of my time but I am going to buckle down on reading now. I've rented a whole bunch of audiobooks because at work we have a reading contest going on. We are given a bingo sheet and we have to read books based on the prompts. So all of the other books I have started are on hold until I finish this contest. I'll still review the books I read for the contest because these are books I've never read before. Well, unless they are graphic novels. Right now I'm listening to a book by a local author. It's so weird to have a book that takes place where I went to college. When they mention certain things, I know exactly where it is. Maybe the familiarity will help me go through the book quick.

So until next time....
