Finished reading The Spanish Love Deception

Hello there Bookies,

I finished this book right before bed. I think I'm seeing a pattern here when it comes to audiobooks. Anyways, this book was so predictable towards the end. But instead of the guy begging the girl forgiveness with have the girl doing it. Our main female character, Lina, got too much in her head and ruined her relationship with Aaron. She didn't trust him enough to give her heart entirely to him and it back fired. But when she realized that she loved him and wanted to be only with him, she hoped onto a plane and flew to his hometown to confess her love to him. Of course the setting she chose for that wasn't quite appropriate, but I'm glad the author made note of that and included it in Lina's thoughts as she was telling Aaron all of the right words. Of course he didn't put up much of a fight to take her back. I think he was just grateful that she was there with him in a time of need. But the book ends on a happy note. There were parts in the book that made me want to laugh out loud but I tried my best not to. I didn't want to get weird looks from my family for laughing at something they can't hear. Anyways the book got three stars from me. If it wasn't as predictable as it was, I would have probably given it four stars. It's a good book but it just isn't for me.

So until next time....

About halfway through The Spanish Love Deception

Hey there Bookies,

I've been listening to this book while doing yard work and other things that need to be around the house. Anyway the only thing I have to say is that our main character is an idiot. She thinks that her and her coworker Aaron hate each other. That they can't get along and all they do is argue. He is actually telling her that he likes her and has feelings for her but she just brushes it off or thinks they are insults. Aaron pretty much knows everything about her because he listens to everything she says. He does this because he likes her. Now why he hasn't flat out said it is a mystery to me. Because our main character is the type of person you have to be very blunt to or she will take it as insult. But I feel like this is going to be a theme in the book until we get to an end and me being completely frustrated with the main character. I'll tell you more about the book once I finish it. Right now I just wanted to vent about the main character being an idiot.

So until next time...

Started reading The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas

Hello Bookies,

We are on to our next book. Now I know that this is a book you either hate or love. There is not in between. I've seen this book all over Booktok and Booktube. There have been so many different  opinions and I'm willing to leave my own. Of course the audiobook I got is a bit monotone but it is what I have for now. The hold wait list for this book at the library is long. It's like a six month wait for the audiobook so the book is still pretty popular. I just know that this is a fake relationship that I think sparks into a real relationship. That is all I can remember about the description of the book. Even with all of the videos with this book in it. I think it's because I usually just fast forward through the description of the books because I like blind reacting to the books. Not knowing anything and coming up with my own opinion. I think that it the best way to give a true review on the book.

So until next time....

Almost done reading This Savage Song

Hello Bookies,

All I have to say is that this book is really easy to listen to. It's really easy to follow while you are busy doing something else. Anyways I know about as much of the setting and time period as I did in the beginning. They don't really describe what happened other than there was a big phenomenon and a war took place. But I get a bit of a Romeo and Juliet feel with this book. We have August who is a type of monster that takes souls by playing music. He lives in the south of V City. Then we have Kate who is a human and is the daughter of the leader in the north city. Now the story is pretty boring as we learn about each of the main characters. August just wants to be as normal as a human. He doesn't like taking souls from people. He just wants to be able to play music and not have to worry about someone being affected by it. Kate on the other hand just wants to be home where she lived with her mother before she died. She thought it was to make her father proud but after some events taking place, she didn't want that anymore. The events taking place are that some monsters no longer want to be under her father's control and are retaliating. They are framing August with some deaths in order to break the treaty between the North and the South. The monsters are also trying to kill Kate in hopes that it will start the war as well. Kate contacts her father to let her know what is going on but he only believes her for part of the truth. Sadly he uses his influence to make it look like she was taken captive instead of being protected by August. They flee the city and are headed to a place that only Kate knows where it is. She has the coordinates for it and that is where they are headed. That is as far as I got. I still have about a hundred pages left. The book is in four different parts and I just started the fourth part. There could even be a fifth part that I don't even know about yet but I'm pretty sure it is only four parts. The book doesn't even call them parts. They are verses with plays into the title of the book and the fact that August needs music to feed. The book is interesting especially the further you go into the book. Once you get the retaliating monsters and how are two friends are trying to survive them, you get pretty hooked to the book. You are wondering how they are going to get out of this mess and that is pretty much where I am right now. They are in a place called The Waste and they need to get to the other side of it in order to feel somewhat safe. But The Waste is a dangerous place full of monsters and criminals. I'm pretty sure our main characters will make it to where they need to by the end of the book. Either that or they get caught. There is a second book to this and you know that I will be requesting it.

So until next time....

Started reading This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

Hello Bookies,

It is time to figure out what phase I'm going to falling into. The first book is a YA. That's it. That is all I know. From the small amount I've read, and I could be wrong, it is possibly a dystopian fantasy. If you have been following my block for the past nine years, you know that I never read what a book is about. I like to blindly react to books. I just find the title of the book through Booktube or it is recommended to me on Goodreads. I scan the info and then forget about it instantly. I'm curious to find out what this book is about. I'll try to keep you updated.

So until next time....

Finished reading You Are Not Alone

Hey there Bookies,

This book wasn't really suspenseful until you get to part three where the main character Shay is trying to figure out why Jane and Cassandra were trying to frame her for a murder. She is trying everything she can to survive and avoid these two sisters. There is a small twist at the end but it isn't life changing. But eventually everything works out in the end. Well, sort of. You do have to go through Shay's struggles after she learns that everything she knew was a complete lie when it comes to the sisters. It was all part of the sisters' plan so they could frame her for something they had a part in. I think these books just fascinate me because the authors do a good job giving you that false sense of security and then throw you in a world where nothing is what it appears to be. I'm sure I would have enjoyed this book more if I was still in this phase but I'm not. To me it was a little boring until the end. The book got three stars. I still enjoyed it but not enough to want to keep reading. Even though I was listening to the book whenever I had the chance. I do plan on reading more books by these authors but it will be after a small break in a different genre. The book is highly recommended to those that love the slow build up in suspense. The false sense of security before everything falls apart in an instant.

So until next time....

Started reading You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

Hello Bookies,

I listened to this book as I was falling asleep and already we have questions that need to be answered. One of our characters named Shay witnessed something horrible. A woman threw herself on the subway tracks as the subway was coming right in front of her. Shay is shocked by the whole thing which is understandable. She just watched someone die right in front of her. The next characters we are introduced to are Jane and Cassandra. All we know about these two women is that they are sisters. They new the woman that died and are trying to figure out if the woman told anyone about them. They are the biggest mystery in this book so far. We also get the point of view of the woman who died. Her name is Amanda and she doesn't shed much light on the mystery in this book. So I am just reading to figure out who the two sisters are and how they are related to Amanda. They hinted that they were friends but also hinted that she was part of something they were working on. But we don't know what. I'm interested to find out more.

So until next time....

Finished reading The Wife Between Us

Hey there Bookies,

I finished this book right before I went to bed so I couldn't update it until now. Anyways the ending was a little exciting but it still wasn't what I expected. Not a whole lot of excitement or suspense. The book has three parts. The first part is between two different timelines to get the backstory. Which confused me a little when part two started. Part two is just the main character trying to convince the new bride-to-be to not marry her ex-husband all the while looking over her shoulder. Also she learns the truth about her ex more as he still "punishes" her for going against he "perfect" image. Also it shows how the marriage really went and how he twisted it all around to make him look like the victim and her the crazy one. Part three is freeing the bride-to-be from ever getting hurt. Which the main character sacrifices herself in order to bring out the truth. The ending still left some unanswered questions and one of them has to do with the sister of the ex-husband. You are left with this thought that she may love him more than a brother but it is never confirmed. You just get that feeling. You also learn even more about the ex-husband's past and his behavior is a learned one. I can't say much about the book really. That just pretty much summarized it. The book still gets three stars from me. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more if I was still in my suspense phase. Now I'm just reading the leftover books I have before I try to figure out what phase I am in now. The struggles of being a bookworm.

So until next time....

Reading The Wife Between Us

Hello Bookies,

This book confused me for a little bit but after thinking it over and reading it more it started to make sense. If you aren't paying attention like I was, you will end up confused. The first part of this book is actually between two different timelines. Completely different than what I thought my first impression of the book. The second part pretty much explains the married life our main character with her husband. You also get a little bit of her background on why she is the way she is. I just hit part three and I'm curious what this will focus around. The book isn't as suspenseful as I was hoping but it is an interesting book. Maybe things will change once I finish the book. So far I am not impressed by the book. It's a little dull and gets confusing if you aren't paying attention. I think if I had to rate this book this instant, it would probably be about three stars out of five. It's good, just not what I expected.

So until next time....

Started reading The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

Hey there Bookies,

To tell you the truth, I thought I wrote this post yesterday but I guess I didn't. I started listening to the audiobook of this book yesterday and not much has happened. The two different perspectives are of the ex-wife and the new wife. So I'm interested in what will happen with this book. I know that the last book I read by these authors the suspense builds up. The more that it builds up the more interesting the book gets. So I am expecting the same thing with this book. The only thing I don't like is the slow burn but it will pay off in the end. Hopefully.

So until next time...

Almost done reading Strange Angels

Hello Bookies,

I can't help but get Supernatural vibes from this book. I wonder if the author used the show as inspiration. Drew has a mother that died after hiding her in a secret spot in a closet. Her father then becomes a hunter of the supernatural and drags her into it. Father dies and now she must use what she knows to survive. The only thing missing is that she doesn't have an equally badass sister by her side. Instead she has a werewolf and a half vampire to help her out. Also she is fighting vampires, not demons. Those might come up in the series later on though. She is learning so much about herself and she is a bit confused on all she knows. She thought she knew who her mom was, but she is learning something new every day. The book is a typical introductory into what the series is about. I know I wanted to read this book after completing the series Vampire Academy but I never got to it. I go through phases and I guess I just picked up this book right when I got out of that phase. I'm sure if I was younger I would have enjoyed this book. I still enjoy it but I can't get past the fact that it is a little boring. I'll still try to finish the series since I started it finally. But the book got two stars from me.

So until next time....

Reading Strange Angels by Lili St Crow

Hello there Bookies,

I started reading a book I tried to read a long time ago, but I never finished it. Well, I'm listening to the audiobook because no one pays attention to me while I play video games. But the longer I listen the more I understand why I didn't finish the book. It's a little dry right now. The only action is when our lead female character Drew has to fight something paranormal. I'm sure that this book is just to introduce the world that is around Drew and that is why it is a little slow. I'm sure it picks up as you go farther in the series. Or, at least I hope so. I'm about halfway through the book and so far Drew had to fight her zombie dad and a flaming dog hanging out with a werewolf. Her goal is to find out what happened to her dad that turned him into a zombie and why. I can't tell you much because not much has happened. Drew made a friend named Graves though and he has offered to help her out in finding out what happened to her dad. Well, as long as she continues going to school. Also it will be something for Drew to do while she tries to figure out what to do next. She has never been on her own before and now all that her father has taught her mush be her way to survive. I'm hoping the book picks up for the second half. Wish me luck.

So until next time....

Almost done reading The Paris Apartment

Hello Bookies,

Well, I'm breezing through this book. I feel like not a whole lot happens because we are just trying to figure out what happened to Jess' brother Ben. She slowly learns the secrets of this apartment complex, even if it is at the risk of her life. All she wants to know is what happened to her brother. I did enjoy this book but it wasn't as suspenseful as I was expecting. I do have about forty pages left and maybe that is where the real big suspense happens, but I feel like it would be too late at that point. I feel like the author focused too much on revealing everyone's secrets instead of on the whole mystery of Ben's disappearance. This isn't one of my favorite books but it is still good. I'll probably give it three out of five stars. It's a good book, just not for me. I do plan on finishing this book but I think my rating will stay the same. There just isn't much to talk about that wouldn't ruin the whole plot of the book.

So until next time....

Started reading The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley

Hey there Bookies,

I started a new book. I literally just started it. I've heard good reviews for this book, so I might have high expectations. All I know that the book is about a girl looking for her missing brother. That is all. If I remember correctly, the book has different perspectives from everyone in the apartment building. I'm ready for the suspense that this book is going to hold. I'm still in my mystery and suspense phase for reading so I know I'll most likely enjoy this book. I guess we will just have to find out by reading the book.

So until next time....

Reading It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Hello Bookies,

I know for a fact that this book is advertised as a romance. This book is not a romance. This book is about a real problem that is common and helps us understand what the victim goes through. The romance is just a part of the bigger picture. We follow Lily who is a woman who grew up in an abusive home. She is the type of person who tried her hardest to leave her past behind the moment she had a chance to. Lily promised herself that she would never turn out like her mother. But after meeting a nice guy on the night of her father's funeral, things seem to be going great. He's nice, good looking, and is successful. Lily even unknowingly becomes best friends with his sister. Lily even starts hew own business and life couldn't look even more perfect. Well, until one drunken night where Ryle, Lily's love interest and husband, ends up grabbing a hot dish from the oven with his bare hands and drops the dish, shattering it all over the floor. Under the influence, Lily laughs at the predicament only to upset Ryle. In his anger he ends up pushing her onto the broken glass and she gets flashbacks to her childhood and her parents. She ends up telling Ryle that if it ever happened again, she will leave him. This time it will be an accident, but next time it won't be. Of course it happens again because he found the number of an old friend of Lily's phone. She tries to explain the situation and he ends up pushing her down the stairs, but tells her that she fell. She eventually forgives him. Until it happens again. This time over a newspaper article. Lily ends up sneaking out of her home when Ryle is asleep and hides out at her old friend's house for a few days. She is still going through the reasoning and wondering what she could have done to prevent Ryle from getting angry. This is probably what abused women go through all of the time. They are convinced that it is their fault and if they try to do whatever they can, they won't get hurt. This book is eye opening to a world most of us don't understand. But to have it advertised as a romance is a shame. How are we to learn the lessons this book teaches if we focus on the romance. Ryle is using romance to make Lily question herself in her relationship. I haven't quite finished the book yet, I know that there is a second one after this. I want to see what other lessons will be taught with this book and the one that follows. This book isn't the author romanticizing a serious topic, it's the media.

So until next time....

Finished reading Heart Bones

Hello there Bookies,

I realize that I have spelt the name wrong of our main character. Or, maybe I didn't. I can't really remember. Anyway Beyah did a lot of growing up in the book. She learned to trust people and not think they are all bad. It is a habit she is still trying to break but she is getting better at that. Now, I will have to say one thing I didn't like about this book. This book is like every other story I've read with a hint of romance in it. The guy does something where he has to break up with the girl and she acts like she can't live a life without him. The world is over and there is nothing worth doing anything anymore. But thank the lord that Beyah comes to her senses when she finally connects with her father. She learns that he isn't as horrible as he appeared to be. It was all just a misunderstanding. Her father also admits that he could have done better and now they are working on their relationship. I wish I could say more but I can't reveal too much about this book or it would ruin the whole surprise towards the end. But this book got three stars from me because it wasn't as fantastic as I was hoping it would be. It didn't grip me. It just felt like a teenage girl complaining about her problems and falling in love for the first time. That is it.

So until next time...

Let's Get Personal #7

 Hello Bookies,

It's time for an update on my life. Also for those that found this blog through my Youtube, it will explain why I have been MIA for a while. Besides getting the job at the local library. I ended up getting covid. You can thank my uncle for that since he carried it from his work trip back home to share with the rest of us. I pretty much just felt like I had a bad sinus infection for about a week. The only thing that I'm still struggling with after recovering is that I lost my taste. It is slowly coming back but I sure miss chocolate. Hopefully I can start doing videos again soon. I miss making book review videos for y'all. I'm still trying to get my energy back to be honest. I still want to sleep all day but I need to get used to being awake.

Also today I got a new book from a Goodreads giveaway. The book came is such nice packaging. I wish I unboxed it on camera, but I was too excited to wait to open it. I'll read it as soon as I finish all of the library books I have checked out. Well, that is if I stop checking them out.

Wish I had more to say. But feel free to ask me any questions you have for me so we have something to talk about in the next "Let's Get Personal" post.

So until next time....

Reading Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover

Hello Bookies,

I've been trying to read this book but it is nearly impossible to do so in my house. Even listening to the audiobook is hard to do. Anyway I can't help but listen or read this book without analyzing it. I know that these are one of the books that is advertised as a romance. I know for a fact that romance is just a sub plot in the book. The main plot so far is about a girl named Beyah, who is a product of a one night stand. She grew up with a mother who was a drug addict and she didn't get much that most kids her age got. But when her mother dies, she is forced to go live with her father who she doesn't know very well. From what I can tell is that the story is Beyah trying to adjust to a new life and to learn to trust people. She grew up in a bad setting and now she has to learn that not all people are as bad as she believes that they are be. She is also learning that not everyone is what they seemed. Most of what she is learning all of this from is from a good looking guy who is closed off to the world named Samson. Maybe these two will learn to grow together while a relationship develops. I'll just have to read more to find out.

So until next time...
