Almost done reading Neon Gods

Hello Bookies,

It is still impossible to read anything in my house. No one will leave me alone enough to read a book. Anyway I am finally almost finished with this book. I do have some things that I liked about the book and some things that I didn't. One think I liked is that the setting is like a modern day of Olympus. The characters aren't really gods but powerful people in a city called Olympus. I find it interesting in how things are ran in this city with these powerful people. Also it is pretty easy to follow the storyline since it doesn't progress as much as I would like. Now we will fall into some things that I didn't like the book. The book doesn't really focus on the plot as much as I would like it to. Hades' character grew throughout the book but Persephone's didn't seem to change all that much. Well, maybe except close to the end. I have read a book that this author wrote before and I had the same complaint. The female lead character has no growth throughout the book and when she finally grows, it is pretty much too late. The story is over. If I had to be honest, I find these books okay but not as great as everyone thinks they are. I don't see the hype for the book. I just hope that the second book is a little bit better.

So until next time...

I'm reading two books at once

 Hello there Bookies,

It's been a while and I'm sorry about that. I was in a bit of a reading slump and I usually read graphic novels, mangas, or old childhood books to get out of it. Now I am out of it and I'm in a rush to finish my new reading goal to read at least ninety books by the end of the year. Also I got my hands on a popular book and I just had to read it.

The first book I'm reading is House Across the Lake by Riley Sager. I love Riley Sager's books but there is a small problem with this one. It isn't quite grabbing me in like the other books. So far I have a mysterious family who lives in the house across the lake. And, a main character who is an alcoholic ever since the love of her life died. That is pretty much it. That is all that is pretty much going right now and I'm already a third of the way through the book. Yes, there is a lot of background that needs to be explained but it doesn't hurt to have a little bit of action going on. So far I'm a little disappointed. I'm hoping to finish the book because I don't want to DNF the book. Probably because it is a Riley Sager book and I want to like it for that reason alone. But I guess it is to be expected that there will be a few duds even with your favorite authors. Fingers crossed that something interesting starts to happen in the book. Or, my motivation to finish it will disappear.

The other book I'm reading is Neon Gods by Katee Robert. I like books that have kinks in them for personal reasons. I think it makes the book interesting and it gives people a point of view in a world that they don't quite understand. But I don't like it to be the main focus of the book. I think we know what book I'm thinking about when saying that. So far the book is pretty interesting. It is like a modern day Greek Mythology. We have Zeus who is the wants to look like he is king of the whole city and scares people into bending to his will. Which we have Demeter who sold her daughter to Zeus in order to gain more power. Persephone didn't like this and runs away from the city she knows and enters the lower city, which is the representation of the underworld, and runs into the man she didn't think existed, Hades. There is a whole story about why Hades isn't even considered real and you'll have to read the book to figure that out. Anyway Hades take Persephone into his care because she really beat herself up running away from home. But growing up around people who use each other in order to gain power, Persephone isn't too trusting of Hades at first, but it doesn't stop her from striking up a deal with him. This is where the spiciness of the book comes in. And it is spicy and kinky. But that is all that is going on right now. Hades and Persephone working together to anger Zeus all the while trying to not fall for each other. The typical romance stuff. I have a feeling that our leading lady isn't going to grow that much, which is something I hate. I am hoping this book proves me wrong.

So until next time....

Almost done reading Poisoned

Hello Bookies,

This will be the last post for this book. I can't tell you what is going on because not much happens. The same old same old is going on. Sophie is trying to get her heart back while her stepmother is trying to kill her. The latest is with an enchanted scorpion but a pack of wolves save Sophie because in the very beginning, Sophie saved a wolf from a hunt. Even though people see her kindness as a weakness, it is probably her biggest strength. Now if only the girl was aware of it. That is the only thing I have against this book. The main character isn't really growing. She keeps making the same mistakes because her kindness is making her too trusting of those around her. She needs to learn that there is a balance between the two. I'm sure once I finish the book she will finally grow, but I'm kind of sick and tired of books where they don't have the main character grow until the very end when it doesn't matter. I feel like the author tried to save the story by doing that but by then it is too late. You've already judged the book. This book gets maybe a two out of five stars from me. I liked the idea but the execution could have been better.

So until next time....

Reading Poisoned

Hello there Bookies,

I've finally been listening to my audiobook of this book. I'm about halfway now and it is a retelling of Snow White. Our main character is Sophie and she is our Snow White. According to the people around her, she is too kind hearted and weak to rule. Her stepmother, the queen, doesn't even want to give Sophie her birthright. Instead the queen falls into the trap by the Pale Man and orders the death of Sophie. But luckily Sophie survives the attack on her life. Even though she doesn't have her heart anymore, seven forest men end up saving her. One of them ends up making her a heart out of clock parts but it only gives her limited time. Now Sophie must try to survive while trying to figure out how to get her heart back. Also when the queen learns that Sophie is still alive, she is determined to end her. Even turning Sophie's beloved against her. As much as I enjoy the concept of the book, it just doesn't grab me in. I'm hoping that it will improve the farther I go in the book. Right now it is just dragging on.

So until now....

Finished reading Home Before Dark

Hello Bookies,

This book's ending is full of twists that I don't know what to tell you. The secrets that get revealed in the ending is mind blowing. Of course we find out that the book the main character's father wrote has some truth to it, but he only did that to make the book feel more believable. The reason why he wrote the book was a bit of a shock to me. But you are going to have to read this book to find out. Also the missing girl is found but sadly not alive. So then on top of trying to find out if the house is really haunted, you have to figure out who killed the missing girl. Which is where all of the twists come in. I was so glued at the book at this point that I got mad whenever someone tried to take me away from it. I guess it is safe to say that Riley Sager hasn't disappointed me with their book so far. I can't wait to get my hands on another one of their books. I do highly recommend this book to those that like a little bit of mystery and a little bit of suspense. This book is getting a full five out of five stars from me.

So until next time....

About halfway through Home Before Dark

Hey there Bookies,

I want to continue my fairytale retelling, but this book has me hooked. We are basically trying to solve the truth of the house along with our main character. Strange things are happening while she is there and she doesn't want to believe that the book is true. She has been rationalizing everything going on in the book but there are some things that she can't explain. Also she is learning that not everything in the book is true. Like the cemetery in the forest. There is a cemetery but it is a pet cemetery. No bodies buried there, but that is the least of her problems. I guess the stain in the kitchen was hiding something even more sinister than a nest of snakes. You'll have to read to find out about that. But the book is getting really good and it is getting hard to put down. I have a feeling that this house is hiding more than what is found in the kitchen and I'm willing to find out what it is.

So until next time...

Started reading Home Before Dark by Riley Sager

Hello Bookies,

Nothing like starting another book at work because you forget the one audiobook you were working on. But I'm growing to be a big Riley Sager fan. Their writing style just pulls me in right away. Even though this is only my second book I've read by the author, but I do like the alternating timelines between present and past. The past tells the story through the father's eyes about what happened at this one house they had bought. The present is told through the daughter's point of view who doesn't believe anything her father has written in his book. But the twist is that she actually doesn't remember anything that has happened in the house. Only the things the book has told her had happened. So after inheriting the house, she begins her own investigation to figure out what really happened. From what I gathered so far in this book, we are to figure out what was real in the book and what was not. Also we have this seed planted in our mind right away that the daughter's parents don't want her to go back to the house ever. She even is made to promise that she would never go there and of course she breaks the promise. Things are already getting a little weird but I'm ready to figure out the mystery behind this house.

So until next time...

Started reading Poisoned by Jennifer Donnelly

Hello Bookies,

I'm on to another book. I don't know what this book is about but I think it is a retelling of Snow White. But I'm not sure. I never read what the book is about so it doesn't ruin my reaction to the book. But from the prologue I read, it feels like a retelling of Snow White. I guess the only way I'm going to find out is by reading the book more. I do have the MP3 player version of this book because audiobooks are good to have when I'm just playing mindless games on my computer. My goal is to finish this book quick but with the holidays peeking their head around the corner, we will just have to see if I can finish this book in at least a week. Wish me luck.

So until next time...

Finished reading A Whole New World

Hello there Bookies,

I'm giving this book three out of five stars. Why? It is an interesting concept with having the Aladin we know in a different perspective. It is interesting to see how the main characters had to figure out how to defeat an all powerful sorcerer. But the story does drag on in some parts. The ending is also not as fulfilling as I feel like it should be. Even if it is a happy ending in some way. But if you want a retelling of a Disney movie, this is probably a book for you. I do look forward to listening to other books that are a part of this series. I'm curious how those other stories will play out with their villains. But it probably won't be for a while because I have a list I need to work through.

So until next time....

About halfway through A Whole New World

Hello Bookies,

So far this book is interesting. It is defiantly a different perspective of the Aladin we all grew up with. Which I really like. I'm actually breezing through this book because I want to keep listening to it. I want to know how they overcome the conflict that they are facing. How do you free a genie from someone who is abusing the power they were given? I am at the part where they are still working on a plan to free the genie from Jafar. I'm not sure how they are going to do this but I can't wait to find out.

So until next time....

Started listening to A Whole New World by Liz Braswell

Hello there Bookies,

This book was actually discovered while I was working at the library in town. One of the patrons was looking for books that was part of the series and I was kind of curious what it was all about. I'm all for a twisted version of a familiar tale. I don't know much about this book other than it is Aladin themed and it was in the point of view where Jafar finds the lamp instead of Aladin. I can't wait to see what this book is going to be like. I don't know what to expect but I am sure it will be interesting.

So until next time...

Finished reading King's Cage

Hello Bookies,

I actually finished this book about a week ago but I just didn't have the motivation to write a post. Sorry about that. Anyways, the book defiantly felt like a filler. At least until the very end where the Scarlet Guard tried to keep control of one of the cities they were able to take over. Sadly I don't remember how it ended. I might have fallen asleep at that time because I was listening to the audiobook before bed. I'm sure the last book will explain a little bit of what I missed. Right? Anyway with the book being a filler, it only got two stars from me. The last battle at the end of the book couldn't help it. Yes, there is another big battle in about the middle when Mare escapes her prison but that is about it. Also I'm still kind of being salty about the "strong" main female character set to change the world trope. I would like to have an actual strong female character that grows throughout the books. So far, I don't see any difference to Mare since the beginning.

So until next time...

Reading King's Cage

Hello there Bookies,

I have no idea how far I am in the book. But all I can say that Mare is free from her cage, but the war has not been won. Mavin is determined to get her back. Also as much as some action takes place, this book is still a filler. I'm sure the last book is going to keep me on the edge of my seat. Cal is still determined to save his brother from what his mother has done. Mare hates him for keeping her as a prisoner. I don't know what else to say that won't ruin the series. The surprises that it holds. It gets harder the farther I go into the series. As far as I know there are only four books. Which means I am almost done with the series. I can't say that I'm sad about but I also can't say that I'm happy about it either. I feel just kind of meh. But I can say that the farther I go in this series, the more I don't like Mare. I feel like her character isn't really growing. Not after all of the stuff she has been through. She still feels like the same whiney teen girl in the first book, she is just complaining about a different thing in each book so far. Cal is kind of growing and Mavin just can't grow because he is broken by his mother. In all honesty, no one is really growing in this series. Everyone is still the same since the first book. At least in my opinion. I'm just curious on how this series is going to end. But first we have to finish this book that is a little bit on the boring side.

So until next time....

Started listening to King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard

Hello Bookies,

I got the audiobook of this book in MP3 player form. It's something that is convenient to me because I don't have to kill my phone or fight with my computer while playing video games and someone interrupts me. The only downside is that if I pause it long enough the device shuts off. Anyway we finished the second book with Mare getting captured. But is it really being captured if she willingly gave herself up? Either way the book so far is her being prisoner and how they are treating her. That is as far as I got. I'm only on chapter three or four and not much is going on. I feel like this book is just going to be a filler before the last book. Tone down the action to save it for the grand finale. I do enjoy this series so far, but to be honest, I wouldn't keep it on my bookshelf. I get the appeal of it but I might be too mature for this series. Mature as in too old. I'm not the target audience and I'm okay with that. Either way I'm still curious about how this book is going to play out. I'm wondering how Mare is going to get out of her captivity and get back to those she cares deeply about. Wish me luck on this one.

So until next time....

Finished reading Stay with Me

Hello Bookies,

I would be lying if I said that this book didn't cause me some restless nights because it did. The mess that Calla's mom had put her in left me wondering what she was going to do about it. Also Calla did a lot of growing thanks to Jax. She had a lot to learn to overcome her insecurities and to learn that her scars never made her ugly. The looks she was getting from people were mostly pity and not disgust like she thought. Yeah there were some real pieces of work that found her scars a shame and ugly, but those people aren't deserving to be a part of Calla's life. I think I liked this book because of Calla's character development. This book felt like it was so much deeper than a romance. We have have a girl who had a rough childhood after a fire broke out in her home because she lost some people very close to her. Meaning her dad left and pretty much wrote her off while her mom went into the world of drugs. Even though Calla wanted to get away from her crappy life, she realized that she also neglected those that really did care for her. Later in the book, after almost dying, Calla learns that her mom's mess wasn't even supposed to be Calla's mess. It was taken care of and now she was safe to do whatever she wanted. Like go back to school and fall madly in love with Jax. Anyways, I like how this book had so much more meaning to it than the typical romance. The book is about a girl who felt like she didn't deserve everything in the world because of her background and scars. Then she grows up and realizes that she does. This book gets four out of five stars from me.

So until next time....

Reading Stay with Me by Jennifer L. Armentrout (J. Lynn)

Hey there Bookies,

I'm trying a different Jennifer Armentrout book. Well, I've been listening to this book more than reading it. It is something to do while playing mindless games. But I've learned something about myself going between the two different books by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I don't like overly descriptive books. I like books that pretty much get to the point. I was thinking that was why I couldn't get into Don't Look Back. It was too descriptive on the whole situation. Stay with Me is more to the point. It is interesting that two different books from the same author have completely different writing styles. Anyways the book I'm listening to now is about our main girl named Calla who had her life in order and planned out until she finds out that her mother had completely cleaned her out. Putting all of her plans completely off track. Forced to go back to her hometown to find her mother, Calla learned that finding her mother isn't going to be easy. Turns out her mother has been hanging out with the wrong crowd and ran off. No where to be found. Now Calla is forced to figure out what to do to to get her life back in order. Meaning she is stuck in her hometown until she got at least some of the money she needed in order to at least finish school. I'm curious on how Calla is going to work out her finances while also trying to figure out how to clean up the mess her mother had created.

So until next time.....

Attempted to read Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hey there Bookies,

I have to be honest here. I've been trying so hard to read this book for so long, it is to the point that I should just stop trying. I've checked this book out so many times and kept it as long as I could every single time. The only problem is, I can't get past the first chapter. Yes, this book starts off with the mystery of the main character not remembering anything. We don't know who she is or where she came from. We just know that she was found walking bare food along the road covered in blood and wounds like she was in an accident or was kidnapped or something. But I still can't get past the first chapter. I feel like it just drags on and on about the situation. Being too descriptive on the situation. Maybe I'm being too critical about it but either way, I don't feel right fully reviewing this book if I can't even get past the first few pages. Jennifer L. Armentrout is even one of my favorite recent authors. Maybe the writing style of this book is just not for me.

So until next time....

Let's get personal #11

 Hey there Bookies,

I've been taking a break from reading for a little bit. I was going through a small burnout and a break seemed to be needed. Also I'm shifting phases again. My mind just can't stay on one thing lately. Lately I've been reading middle grade books lately. Or, at least listening to. I do plan on finishing the books I started reading but returned because I couldn't get into. I know there are quiet a few I have to finish. Also I keep collecting books, so I should also think about working on reading those. So much to read and so little time. I'm sorry for being away for a while. I'll try to do better from now on. My Youtube videos are still out of the question due to the fact that my power strip was taken to light up the Halloween decorations outside. But it was a sacrifice I was willing to make to enjoy my favorite holiday ever. I hope to go back to making my book review videos once again when spooky season is over. Maybe that is also why I didn't want to read too much. It would have made the review video very long if I kept breezing through books like I have been. I guess we will just have to see after Halloween ends.

So until next time....

Read The Pearl Hunter by Miya Beck

Hey there Bookies,

I listened to this book for the past few days and I actually finished it early Saturday morning. But due to work and spooky season, I hadn't been able to update until now. Anyway my impressions on this book is that the deeper story is a little heavy to be a middle grade book, but I still enjoyed it. The story follows Kai who is a pearl diver. She feels like she is falling in her twin sister's shadow because her sister is starting to grow up and build a life without her. But on the day that Kai does her first solo dive, her and her sister end up in a small competition. Sadly when their competition comes to a close, something happens. Kai's sister gets caught by a sea creature that no one knew existed. Kai goes after the creature to free her sister, but she runs into a few obstacles. One being that her sister has lost her soul. In order to get it back, Kai has to go on a journey to find a pearl belonging to a fox goddess. The book follows Kai's journey and she grows along the way. She goes through many hardships like getting caught by birds and being taken captive. Kai eventually gets the pearl, but I'm not going to tell you how the book ends. That would just ruin it. I really did enjoy the book and I found the story interesting. I wasn't familiar with the folklore used in the book but I still found it fascinating. I do recommend the book if you want something easy to read with an interesting storyline. The book gets a four out of five stars from me on Goodreads.

So until next time...

Started reading The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh

Hello Bookies,

This is a book I started reading to my mom. Weird, I know. But she likes to pretend that she is listening. Already we are getting Bride of the Water God drama vibes from this book and we are only two chapters in. I'm trying to understand what country this book takes place, but I can't figure it out. The author doesn't really explain the location all that much. I think that is because the main focus of the book is to be taken place in the spirit realm and the author didn't think that the mortal realm location was that important. Our main character Mina sacrifices herself to become the bride of the Sea God to help her brother's love out. She wants her brother to have his wish of having the love of his life. I left off with Mina being in the spirit realm and it is foggy along with looking abandoned. All she has to lead her through this maze of an empty city is a ribbon of fate leading her to the Sea God. I am interested on how this book is going to go. I can't wait to have another reading session with my mom to figure out why the Sea God is asleep.

So until next time...

Started listening to Looking for Alaska by John Green

 Hello there Bookies,

I have to be honest here, I'm not feeling this book. I know I just started but fifty pages in and I'm not feeling it. I think knowing the fact that this is a popular book might be ruining the experience. We have our main character who's nick name is Pudge. He is from Florida and recently transferred to a boarding school that his father once attended. He is hoping that this transfer will lead him to a life of greatness, but sadly the school isn't what he imagined it to be. But he does make friends pretty quickly which is an upgrade from his past school life where his mother thought he was so popular that she threw a going away party where only two people showed up. Pudge even meets the infamous Alaska and he is immediately smitten by her. Only problem is that she already has a boyfriend and shows no interest in him. That is about as much as I gathered from the first fifty pages of this book. The book is also not in chapters really, so it is hard to keep track of where I left off if I fall asleep listening to the book late at night. I'm still giving this book a chance to improve, but so far it isn't looking too good.

So until next time...

Finished reading Marked

Hey there Bookies,

This book was a pretty quick read for me. Well I mostly listened to the audiobook because it's something to do while I work on programing stuff at work. Anyways the book was short and it was something I needed after dealing with books that felt like they took forever. Also I kind of knew what this book was about ahead of time due to the many times I had to restart this series. Hopefully this will be the last time. Anyway our main character is Zoey. She lived a life with a religious stepfather and her pushover mother. We see how these two parental figures are when Zoey first gets marked. Instead of understanding that Zoey needs to go to the Houses of Night, they think she is only marked because she is a bad teen. Then lock her in her room and call the church group to start a prayer tree. As if God could save Zoey from making the family look bad any more than she has. Of course doing this puts Zoey at risk because she has to be near her kind for some reason or she dies. So in desperate need to survive, Zoey runs away to her grandmother's house because she will be more understanding along with knowing what to do. But Zoey ends up passing out and encounters a goddess. Then wakes up at the House of Night with her grandmother by her side. Feeling much better, Zoey is taken in to the school and is introduced to her mentor/high priestess. Also to her roommate who is a wholesome young Oklahoma girl. If I remember correctly, something bad happens to the roommate Stevie Rae, but that is later in the series. For now, Zoey is introduced to Stevie Rae's small group of friends and they all create an instant bond of friendship. The friendship gets put to the test later in the book, but you will have to read the book to find out what happens. Anyways Zoey get invited to a Daughter's of Darkness ritual for the full moon. Really they just invited her because they had to and also they just wanted her to feel like she was a freak and didn't belong. Well, it sort of worked. Leaving the ritual upset, Zoey finds the cat meant for her and she names it Nala. Also she encounters her two old friends from her old school because they came to bust her out of the school. She tries to make them leave but one refuses to because they are also her ex-boyfriend who just can't take a hint. They get in a small scuffle because she is trying to get him to leave and then blood is drawn. Zoey gets a reaction that is not common for a young fledgling like herself and she is a little freaked about it. She later tells her mentor about it but she doesn't want to be treated differently at this school than she already is, so she is given some books she has to do as homework to read about the new changes she is going through. There is more in the book but I'm just summarizing because I want you to read the book yourself and come up with your own opinions. I'm not going to tell you more because again I want you to read the book. The book is a good cleanser after having read long books for a long time. To me it feels a little lighthearted even though it isn't even close to lighthearted. But I feel like teen problems are easier to read about than the ones I was reading about these past few months.

So until next time....

Started reading Marked by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

 Hello there Bookies,

I have tried to read this series so many times and I always stop at the same point. Then I forget what the series is about and I have to reread the series all over again. This time I'm going to finish this series. I will get all of the audiobooks if I have to. Also I'm sure this will be a quick read for me. Which is good because I really need to get through these books on my bookshelf. Especially when I keep getting gifted more books from work. I think the only thing I want is you all to wish me luck in completing this series. I will probably need it.

So until next time...

Almost done reading Gone Girl

Hey there Bookies,

Finally I'm almost done with this book. This book drags on until you get to the plot twist. Then you get interested in what is going to happen. The only thing I am going to say is that the lengths a person would go just because they got cheated on amazes me. I still have a few chapters left to listen to, but I figured I would wrap up the posts on this book. I can't tell you much about the book after the plot twist anyways. It would just ruin the book. If you don't mind a slow start to a book, this book is for you. I'm curious about what the movie is like but I don't know when I will get the chance. Just another thing added to the list of movies I still need to watch. Sadly the book gets only two out of five stars. The book is okay but it wasn't for me. I like books that aren't as so slow in the beginning.

So until next time....

Let's get personal #10

 Hey there Bookies,

It is so hard for me to read certain books. The problem is that I finally get them from the library and it takes me so long to finish one book due to family reasons and then I have to return the books I need to read. The demand is so high for a few of the books I've been trying to read or finish, I get a little upset that I have to return them before I even open up the cover. Some examples of this problem are the third books of the ACOTAR series and the Throne of Glass series. I spent so much time trying to listen to Fairy Tale and Glass Sword that I didn't get a chance to even try to read the books. Now they have to go back and I'll have to have a long wait until I can get them back. Thank goodness for youtube videos that help keep me up to date on the series. I also thought I was switching genres again but I have no interest in graphic novels at the moment. I guess I will just focus on the books that keep piling up on my bookshelf. Maybe I'll find out what genre I'm switching interest into. Wish me luck.

Almost done reading Glass Sword

Hello Bookies,

I'm finally almost done with this book. A lot happens and I still have no idea what to share that won't ruin the book or the series. This book is like the first book. Its good but hard to remember what you read. The only thing I remember is Mare trying to find the New Bloods and it isn't an easy search. The new king makes it hard for her. Especially when she finds out that majority of the New Bloods are locked away. Nothing like a prison break to keep you on the edge of your seat. Sadly it ends in heartache. You'll have to read the book to find out why. The book gets three out of five stars from me. It was good but it wasn't for me. I still manage to want to finish the series and I think there is only one left. Or, is it two? I don't remember. But I do plan on reading the third book. I just don't know when.

So until next time....

I've been listening to Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

Hello there Bookies,

I have a confession. I've been listening to the audiobook for Glass Sword for the past few days. In the past I have tried to read this book but as I read the book, I realized I remembered nothing from the first book. Now that I read the first book and added a bit more notes to the book. I felt comfortable enough to read this book. Also I was a lot farther in the book than I thought when I first read this book and returned it. It was all review for me until I got about halfway through the book. Mare is just trying to figure out who she can trust after the big betrayal she went through at the end of the first book. She is also learning that the Scarlet Guard can't be fully trusted either. But her quest to find the other people like her begins about halfway through the book and I'm curious what each ability each person has. The sad thing about this series is that I don't know what to say that won't ruin all of the twits and turns it has. I don't like to give away spoilers but this series is making it hard to do so. Well, wish me luck.

So until next time....

I had to return Fairytale

Hello Bookies,

I have sad news. Fairytale had to go back to the library. I finally almost get halfway through the book and I have to return it. The request for the book is set up and now the waiting game for this book will be however long it takes to go through the library cycle. I would say I enjoy this book, but there are some parts in the book that feels like it takes forever. Which makes this book a type of book you can only take in sections. The long descriptions of scenes is also probably why I didn't finish a Stephen King book yet. I know the descriptions are to help build up the world that we are walking in, but I feel like we can probably cut it in half and still keep the magic of the story. Anyway I will let you know when I finally get the book back. It is probably a good thing I had to return it because it was hard motivate myself to read it lately.

So until next time....

Third of the way through Fairy Tale

Hello Bookies,

I am finally a third of the way through this monster of a book. I've been using the audiobook more because the size of this book intimidates me. Sadly the physical book I have to keep track of where I am has to go back. I did request another copy but who knows when it will be here. This is a popular book right now in the library system. I am just now getting into the whole other world section and now the book has to go back. Luckily I can keep the audiobook for a little bit longer but I won't be able to keep track of my reading progress. I'll be a little bit happy when I finally reach the halfway point in this book. It will be the farthest I have been with any Stephen King book. Big accomplishment there. I should have picked a smaller book for my goal of reading and finishing a Stephen King book, but this book kept staring at me on the shelves at work, so I grabbed it. If I can make it through this one, I can make it through anyone. Or at least I hope so. Wish me luck.

So until next time....

Finished reading The Invisible Life of Addie Larue

Hello Bookies,

I actually finished this book yesterday but I needed it to sink in a bit. The book was pretty good and who would have thought that love would make Addie finally give in to the darkness? The only complaint I had was that it was slow and just about Addie adjusting to her long life and surviving. The book also switches times throughout and if you aren't paying attention, it can get confusing. It also follows different people from time to time and that also gets confusing if you aren't paying attention. This is a book that you have to pay attention to know what is going on in the book and it has to be taken in sections because it kind of drags on. I am a little disappointed in the end and kind of wish that there was more to it, but maybe that is what the author wanted. I'm honestly not a huge fan of this book but I can see the appeal to it. The book gets two out of five stars from me. It was okay but not for me.

So until next time....

About halfway through The Invisible Life of Addie Larue

Hello Bookies,

I'm really trying with this book. I can see the appeal of this book but this is something I don't normally read. The book is a little slow. Okay, it is really slow. Nothing really exciting happens in the book and it is basically just Addie complaining about not being remembered. Then she meets someone that remembers her, but that is only because he made a deal himself. The only reason why I'm still listening to this book is to find out what is the straw that will break the camel's back. What will make Addie finally break down and sell her soul to the devil? After learning how to survive in a world where no one remembers her and living a lonely life, what will finally make her end it? That is the reason why I still go. I'll try to update more, but like Gone Girl, this book has to be taken in small sections. Also my life is so chaotic, it is hard to listen to anything. Wish me luck.

So until next time....

Started reading Fairy Tale by Stephen King

Hello Bookies,

You are probably wondering what I've been up to since I haven't posted in a few days. I'm still listening to the other book but I also decided to take on this monster of a book. I'm going to reach my goal where I finish as Stephen King book. I figured why not his latest one and grabbed this off the shelf with it's audiobook. It is going pretty good. Not much is going on other than the main character's background information and how he took on the pity to help out a lonely old man in need because it is what he is supposed to do to pay God back for getting his father sober. There are a lot of mysteries going on right now that I don't have the answers to. Also I feel like I'm making good progress on the audiobook by getting threw three of the twenty discs but then I update the progress on Goodreads, only to find out that I am not even halfway through the book. Like I said before, this is a monster of a book but I plan on finishing it before it goes back to the library. Wish me luck.

So until next time...

Started reading Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab

Hello there Bookies,

I have a confession. I have seen book recommendations of this book and they aren't that great. But all I remember them mentioning in the book recommendations is that the book is about Addie Larue. A girl who lives a long life while no one remembers her at all. Some people who have read this book feels like Addie kind of lives this long life as wasted time. They believe that Addie could have done so much but she doesn't. I'm curious what this book is about. Not a lot of people like it but I'm excited to check it out. I have the audiobook for now and the physical copy is sitting in my locker at work. I should remember to grab it when I stop at work again tomorrow. Well, wish me luck with this book.

So until next time...

Almost done reading The Fault in Our Stars

 Hello Bookies,

I went through this book faster than I thought I would. It only took me two days with the audiobook. I did read some chapters myself but mostly did the audiobook. My old knee injury is acting up so I had a lot of time on my hands while I sat and iced my knee while keeping it bandaged up. Being immobile has its perks I guess. The book is exactly what I thought it was. A tragic romance between two teenagers suffering from an incurable disease. Hazel's cancer isn't so bad but her lungs are badly damaged from it though. Sadly her love only suffered from bone cancer that ended up spreading throughout his body like wildfire. Which you can guess what happened. I can see how this book got a movie deal. I do plan on watching the movie now that I read the book. It will be added with another movie based on a book I read. This book was kind of interesting to see life in a different point of view. There were also some funny parts that made me chuckle. I can't say that I loved the book but I did enjoy it. I'll give it about three out of five stars.

So until next time...

Started reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Hello there Bookies,

I grabbed another book I have yet to read on my bookshelf. Well, it was more like the huge pile on my desk of books I still need to read. I've been looking to reading this book when it turned into a movie. I don't remember much about what the book is about or the movie. All I can remember it deals with two characters finding love that are also suffering from cancer. I don't have high expectations with this book. Only because I have a history with books that everyone likes and I don't like them. We will just have to read the book and find out. Good thing I also got the audiobook for this book as well in case I lose the motivation to actually read the book.

So until next time...

Finished reading Regretting You

Hello Bookies,

I've lost sleep over this book because of the frustration it caused me. The whole book is misunderstanding and no one communicating. But when it finally all comes out it was like the clouds opened up and the angels were singing. I do plan on doing a deep dive video of this book eventually. But until then you will have to read the book to find out why it frustrated me so much. Even though it frustrated me, I still enjoyed it. It is just like that C-drama I watched that kind of had the same kind of plot line. Even though you are so frustrated with everyone's choices, you keep going in hopes that everything is cleared up soon. The book gets four out of five stars because I will be talking about the frustration with this book for a long time.

So until next time....

About halfway through Regretting You

Hello Bookies,

This book is reminding me of a C-drama I watched at one point. Where there were so many miscommunications because no one explained what was going on. Which frustrated me and that means that this book frustrates me. We have the points of view of a mother and daughter. They lose some important people in their lives and they don't talk about it. The daughter is thinking that she caused the wreck and won't talk about it. The mother knows why the two important people were together, but won't tell her daughter about it. Which leads to misunderstanding when the significant other of one of these important people comes around to help find answers to this affair going on. For example, when the daughter asks a question about why the guy was at their house. Instead of answering the question by explaining that he was there to fix their door that she put a hole in, the mother instead avoids the question and asks her own. There are so many points in this book that they could have asked certain questions or just told the truth. But no one is communicating. I'm waiting for the day when everything is revealed and I can say "It's about time! Thank the lord." Hopefully it will be soon or I am going to be ranting even more.

So until next time...

About to read Regretting You by Colleen Hoover

Hello Bookies,

I haven't officially started reading this book, but I thought I would be nice enough to let you know the book I plan on listening to next. We have yet another Colleen Hoover book to analyze. I purposely don't read what these books are about and I don't read or watch any reviews on them. I like to go into book blindly in order to give a full honest opinion that isn't tainted by other people's words. I've been waiting to read this book and I only have a week with this book. Luckily I do have an audiobook of this book, so if I run out of time, I can finish the book by listening to it. Honestly, I am sure I won't need the audiobook but with how busy my life is, it will probably happen. Good thing her books are pretty quick to read and I am pretty good at quickly analyzing the books. Wish me luck on the adventure this book will hold for me.

So until next time...

Almost done reading The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle

Hey there Bookies,

I have about two hours left of this book and we are so close to finding out who the killer is. Well, we know who one killer is but the big twist is that there is another one. We still don't know who the second killer is and it looks like all is lost at this point. Being so close to finding out all of the answers and seeing failure in the future is tough. I do really like this book. It kept me entertained and curious as to who the killer is. The constant loops that have been happening for a long time now and everyone is racing to find out who did it in order to escape the loop. Sure some of them fight a little bit dirty but that is what keeps it pretty interesting. I do recommend this book. I was describing it to my mother and she says it reminds her of Clue mixed in with Groundhog's Day. I can't help but agree with her in a way. I wish I could tell you more about the book but that would ruin the whole mystery. But I can say that the seventh host of our main character learns a lot about the mystery. He only needed one more hour to solve it too before he gets killed off. It must be so frustrating to be so close and then your host gets killed and you jump to a new host. I'm going to continue listening to the book in hopes to finding out who did it and I suggest you grab this book to find out yourself on who did it. I have my suspicions and it is only a matter of time before I find out if I was right or not. The book gets four out of five stars from me.

So until next time....

About a quarter of the way through 7 1/2 Deaths of Evenly Hardcastle

 Hello Bookies,

I'm about a quarter of the way through the book and it's like a whole Groundhog's Day thing going on. I've never watched the movie but I have heard about it. Anyway the main character that we started with is reliving the same day but in different 'hosts'. The whole reason of this is to figure out a murder before it happens. It is an interesting concept and it's nice trying to solve a mystery before it even happens. Our main character is trapped in this mystery until they can solve it. Once they solve it and provide evidence, they are free from the cycle. If they fail, they will have to start all over again. Now the title kind of makes sense. The only predictable thing about this book so far is that by the eighth day, they will solve the mystery. But it is still interesting that they have to relive this one day to figure out what they need to in order to become free. I'm kind of invested. Sadly our main character already wasted three of the eight days and is now trying to work with what they have. I wonder how this mystery will be solved.

So until next time....

Let's Get Personal #9

 Hello Bookies,

I haven't been able to make any update videos due to the fact that my desk is full of books I still have to read. There are so many books and it's because I have a job that sells books and receives donations all of the time. I've been collecting and my mom is really thinking of doing the whole book purge twice a year instead of once a year. I just need another bookshelf and then everything is fine. But as soon as I clear off my shelf enough I'll post another video on my Youtube channel.

Anyway I have decided to no longer review mangas and graphic novels. Only because they are quick reads for me and there isn't much to say about them. Maybe I'll do a review when I finish a whole series or something like that. I don't know yet. Also I decided that for now I'll just do monthly updates on Youtube because Those videos seem to do better. I might even squeeze in unboxing when I get a Goodreads Giveaway book. Which I have been getting a lot of lately. I think I have a book problem.

Well that is all I have to update for this month. Sorry it wasn't sooner but I've been busy at the library with all of the summer programs.

So until next time...

Started reading The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

Hey Bookies,

Well, I started another book. I'm pretty sure I've met my second reading goal of the year at this point. But that is because I decided to read mangas and graphic novels, but I'm no longer going to review them. I wish I could tell you more about the book I'm reading but I'm not that far in. I'm still taking advantage of audiobooks because they make life so much easier. Unless I am going to bed and fall asleep listening to the book. Which is what happened with this book. It happens with every audiobook I listen to. I get so sleepy at the end of the day and I try to listen to a few chapters while playing on my phone and I fall asleep. We all know that I go into books blind. So I have no idea what this book is about. So far I'm just trying to figure out what is going on. We have a person who woke up in the middle of the woods and has no memory. All we know is that they were hit on the head and someone tried to kill them. That is all we know so far. Oh, and they saw or heard a murder take place. But no one is too worried about it which is odd. So far this book is just odd. I hope it makes more sense the more I listen to the book. Wish me luck y'all.

So until next time....

Almost done reading Accused

Hello there Bookies,

Well, I'm almost done with this book and I am starting to feel destined that I am not meant to know who the killer is. The only time to listen to this book lately is right before I go to bed. And wouldn't you know, I fall asleep right when the killer is about to be revealed. This has happened at least three times now and it upsets me. This whole book has given me the run around the entire time and now that I have a chance to finally get answers, I can't stay awake long enough to hear my answers. Which is good for you because I can't spoil the book by telling you who did it. This book got four our of five stars. I really enjoyed the whole mystery this book held and the feeling that something wasn't right the whole time. We find out why the innocent guy took the plea deal even though he was innocent. I at least was awake long enough for that. He was just trying to be a good son. Anyway I really did enjoy listening to this book and I'm determined to find out who the real killer is. But I would recommend this book if you like the whole mystery where you know something isn't right but you don't know what it is.

So until next time....

About halfway through Accused

Hello Bookies,

I've been listening to this book or at least trying to. Apparently in my family, if they see someone wearing headphones they still assume that person can hear them talking to them. I love my family, I really do, but some days. Anyway I still have no idea what genre this book is. All I know is that we have a lawyer that took on a case to prove that a guy sent to prison for murder is actually innocent. Now I get the feeling the guy is innocent and that someone in the family actually killed the person. They are trying too hard to cover up this case or at least to stop the reinvestigation on it. While you read this book you get that small voice in your head that says "something isn't right here." Being halfway hasn't answered any questions yet. This is going to be one of those books that will keep putting you in circles until the very last chapter. Kind of predictable with the structure. But I still have no idea who did it. I plan on listening to more while I go through my book list. Maybe I'll finally get the answers as to why I have that little voice in my head that is nagging me that something isn't looking right in this book. Wish me luck.

So until next time....

Started reading Accused by Lisa Scottoline

Hello there Bookies,

I'm on to the next book from my pile of books. I'm not sure what this book is about. I found it at the library's book sale. It looked sad being on the shelf for so long, so I had to snatch it. I'm assuming it is a mystery or detective story. But I won't know for sure until I read the book. I do have the audiobook for this and I'll be using that more than actually reading the book. I will try to keep you updated as I learn more about the book. Hopefully I will not be disappointed.

So until next time....

Rereading Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

 Hello Bookies,

I'm breaking into my huge stack of books on my bookshelf. Starting with rereading a book I don't remember much about. I don't feel comfortable read the second book of this series because I don't remember much. It's been a while since I read this book. When I read it before I gave it five out of five stars. I'm using an audiobook for this because it is so much faster. I've been having trouble focusing lately. The more I listen to the book, the more bits and pieces I remember. I remember the princes but I don't remember which one is the bad one. I remembered that Mare ended up in the palace but I didn't remember how she got there. I hardly remember anything about her life in the stilts, so that was a nice refresher for me. I'm pretty sure I'm going to breeze through this book and won't have many thoughts on it. But I figured I would do a small update on what I was doing.

So until next time....

Finished reading An Arrow to the Moon

Hey there Bookies,

I actually meant to make a post when I was halfway through the book but I was so focused on what I was doing that I pretty much ended up finishing the book. The one thing that excited me was the legend of the eight suns being mentioned in the book because thanks to Daughter of the Moon Goddess, I knew the story. Then it got me thinking that this book could be a retelling of that legend. Where Hunter, our main male character, is the....I guess we will just say Sun Warrior, and Luna, the main female character, is the moon goddess. I also get Romeo and Juliet vibes in this book because both characters are from rival families. I almost giggled out loud a few times listening to this book and that is a good sign. The book might get four stars from me because it plays so close to the series I fell in love with. In all honesty, I haven't finished the book completely yet. I still have a few pages and few more mysteries to solve. Like how does the title of the book play into the story? I plan to finish this book and double check that it is a standalone YA. But Goodreads is down right now, so I will just have to wait.

So until next time....

Finally finished reading Once Upon a River

Hello Bookies,

Well, I finally finished the book. We really don't get a full answer on who the little girl is. But other secrets get revealed. I wish I could tell you what I read on the book but I feel like it would ruin the ending. I guess I could tell you what I thought about the book. I enjoyed it but I didn't love it. Honestly, it felt like it was too slow and descriptive. It feels like the author focused more on the setting and building a mystery than focusing on the plot of the story. In my opinion, the book could be a little bit shorter if we got rid of some of the words that I felt like weren't needed. But I guess we can just say that I'm pretty picky when it comes to my reading. The book got three out of five stars on Goodreads from me. It's an interesting tale but it is a bit long. It's a book not for me but maybe for those that don't mind the different point of views and how all of the character's stories somehow tend to wind together in a way. Which I did find that interesting. But if you don't mind slow books that have a bit of mystery to it, this might be the book for you.

So until next time...

Started reading An Arrow to the Moon by Emily X.R. Pan

Hello there Bookies,

I have attempted to start this book but I was so tired from work that I fell asleep listening to the audiobook of this book. I have a feeling that this book is going to be a retelling of a folktale, but I can't be sure until I read more of this book. All I know is that it focuses around two children that a broken star landed on when they were born. Or, I think it landed on them. I can't remember. But so far I am already invested. I wish I could tell you more but I plan on starting this book over and not falling asleep listening to it. Wish me luck.

So until next time....

I got Once Upon a River back.

 Hey there Bookies,

I just got this book back. I was expecting a little bit of a shorter wait but beggers can't be choosers. Sadly, I have to finish an audiobook I've already started while waiting for this book, but I will finish this book as soon as I can. I want to know the mystery of this little girl and I'm just happy that I will finally find out. Hopefully, no one requests it because I messed up on my time for borrowing the audiobook. I gave myself 14 days instead of a full month. Wish me luck on this.

So until next time...

Finished reading The Girl Who Drank the Moon

Hello Bookies,

I finished listening to The Girl Who Drank the Moon and it was a nice book. Honestly, I don't remember what I already told you about the book. Well, the witch of the woods took in a baby that was left in the woods. She raised it as if it was her own and even named the baby Luna. But Luna was a very special girl. Due to drinking from the moon, she became so full of magic that she didn't realize she was doing it in the first place. She didn't understand it at all. It forced the witch to lock away the magic until Luna turned 13. Luna grew up as normal as she could but she always felt like something was missing. But the more we learn about Luna, we also learn more about the town she had come from. We also learn that the witch in the woods isn't the evil witch. The evil witch might actually be closer then the town realizes. Sadly I can't tell you more because once you start learning secrets in the book, the more it picks up. Also if I revealed all of the secrets to you, you wouldn't want to read the book. I do recommend this book to those that wants an easy listen or for those that likes books about magic. Even though I enjoyed the book, I will still give the book three stars. It didn't draw me in as much as I thought it would, but I would still recommend it to others if they were looking for a good book about magic and witches.

So until next time....

Started reading The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill

Hello Bookies,

I started a new audiobook. I've actually had this one for a while but I was waiting for the physical copy to come in. I keep the physical copy around so I don't forget that I have an audiobook of the book. Since I just started the book I don't know much about the book. As far as I have is there the book is focused around a village that believes in an evil witch that lives in the forest. In order for her to leave them alone, they sacrifice a child by leaving them in the forest. The leaders of the village know that this is actually a lie but it is to keep the people in the village dependent on their rule. There is a witch though but she isn't evil. She actually takes the abandoned children to a different village and gives them to a new family that will raise them happily. But with the latest child, she develops a connection with them and decides to keep them. That is where I left off for now. I'm interested with how this story is going to play out. The best way to find out is to read more.

So until next time....
